A good hard fought win for Shore
Shore started the brighter of the 2 teams, with Philly Sheridan producing 2 good saves from the keeper, before hitting the bar with a lob. Shore were awarded a penalty after 20 minutes when Philly Sheridan was hit with a shocking tackle in the box, which strangely only warranted a yellow card. Barry graham stepped up, but his penalty was well saved by the keeper.
Shore were then reduced to 10 men after 30 mins when a melee broke out following another bad challenge from a Riverdale player. Sean Gillen saw red for a moment of madness. Both teams had chances howver the 1st half finshed 0-0.
The second half started well with Philly Sheridan causing major problems for the Riverdale defence, before Riverdale attacked against the run of play producing a quality save from Chris Wheatley, and Shore ran straight up the pitch with Sherdian crossing for Barry Graham to knock hom his 11th of the season. Shore then took control of the game, with Riverdale making 2 defensive errors in quick succession allowing Philly Sherdian to score his 15th and 16th goals of the season.
Shore kept applying pressure and John Floyd made it 4-0 with a lob over the keeper from outside the area. It soon became 5 when substitute Popie McCoy skinned the left back in the area then drilled past the keeper. Shore had a few more chances , however Riverdale scored in the last minute with a free kick which cannoned off Popie McCoy and into the net.
All in all not a bad day at the office when playing with 10 men for 60 minutes. The workrate was top class from the players.
