Got a text today from a player who aint happy with the idea of having 2 players for every position at the club so he decided to leave us and asked me to release him from the club.
Im sure there are many teams on here who would love to be able to have 4 subs every week standing up the line and thats what we have at the Swifts and unfortunatley not everyone can take this competition for places and prove that they are worth the starting place.
Training tomorrow night lads and hopefully we have a new face at the club but if not then no big deal as I feel we have a strong enough squad and I wrote out today all the players we have and it totalled 23...
Onwards and upwards lads and I dont chase anybody no matter who they are

Name and shame!!! Surely they're big enough to support their own decision!!!! If I was a betting man I'd be throwing me money on Cujoaks. Big party animal doesn't like the competition so I'm told... Couldn't be Weasal, could it?? Wouldn't be many other clubs willing to take on someone who was given a p45 from 7 Towers and then asked to leave the Swifts with his Ferrit face and mod knee!!!

All slegging aside mate, that does seem to have upset you a tad, maybe you didn't agree with their opinion?? As you say mate you have a good squad there and by all accounts, the bulk of your lads seem determined and more than happy playing for you so you're just right not chasing anyone, especially when things are going well!!!

It was Russell Craig fishter mate and I understand his decision but I wont pander to anyone and I have 4 good strikers already at the club so no big loss

In all honestly I dont blame any BSML footballer for wanting to leave a club if he's not getting playing week in week out. At our standard, we play for a bit of a laugh, its always nice to win things but were doing it for enjoyment only really, and theres no enjoyment in not playing. Unless your really really bad, your almost certain to getting started at another BSML club somewhere! Out of interest is PC still playing with ye's this season?

TBH I can understand a young and decent player like Russell wanting to leave if he is sub. He will get a game elsewhere and at his age thats all you really want. Getting 90 mins on a Saturday morning and enjoying the game. So its probably best for him to move on just like it was for Rab. I wish him all the best for sure.
Just an update Stan. I'll be out at traing as much as I can now that its started. I've had a lot going on in the past wee while between holidays, work and my dad being in hospital at the minute so haven't been around. I haven't forgotten about you and I'm glad to see we are doing well! I realise I'm not really a part of the first team plans and thats fair enough when you consider I can only really be available for about half the games over the season. Its important to have a settles side as much as possible. Even more so in defence.
Anyway I look forward getting back to training cause god knows I need it lol. Let myself go recently.

hey lads russ here i didnt think so much fuss would have been made about me leavin like. if ur like me and u love your football you just want to be playing all the time no matter who your playing for. i was a happy man at the swifts but when ur sitting on the bench in the 3rd devision then theres something wrong there.
Im not saying im a better player than any1 cuz the swifts have a great team but u gotta understand my desire 2 play football at my age lads.

Who was the irish league side he played for? Strange he played IL and cant start in a third division side.

Absolutly as Mitty already said at this level no decent player is gonna do sub for a long period imo. Have you found a new side russ?

Yeah its understandable a young player like Russ just wants to play. If I was in that situation I'd probably do the same in all honesty but I've been playing the league for about 15 years now, work has become an issue whch would stop me commanding a place in any team also so I'm happy enough to just play if required and in the mean time train with the lads ton try and keep the fitness levels up. Each individual and their circumstancs differ I guess.
In an ideal world it would be great to have 2 players for each position to call upon but that means 22 players and 7 who wouldn't even be kitted out. There's just no way you can keep that many happy. Maybe old over the hill ones like me lol, but not young and talented players who are available every week.

We've played 6 games so far this season and Russ you started in 3 and got a run out for 30 mins in the other 3 if im not wrong so I think I was fair enough and if you hadnt have come off against Inver you'd prob have started against Holywell too. I rested prob our 2 best centre halfs and rotated the midfield so you cant say I singled you out it was all about playing a strong fresh team every game while the midweeks were on and then I was gona play what I see as my strongest 11 on a saturday now we are down to 1 game a week.

Well 3 starts from 6 and a half hour run out in the other games does sound fair enough to me. Especially when you consider they are at a stage of the season when teams are asked to play 3 games a week.

Simon thats all I was trying to do mate you know I am a fair lad and I just wanted what was best for the swifts and putting out a fresh team every game 3 games per week is what I did and it maybe back fired on me but I did what I thought was right and something not many clubs can do is have 14 really good lads fighting for a place.
Id love Russ to stay with us of course I would but I wont stand in anybodies way if they arent happy...

There's no doubt you can see where the lad is coming from, 100%. I know I wouldn't be doing sub every week, not because I think I'm better than that, because the BSML is a great set up but at the end of the day it's at a level where we're generally in it for enjoyment and partcipate as a hobby. On the other hand, Stan is just right in what he's saying, it's just something that's going to happen, especially at a club with a big squad. It's a problem, IMO, you're better having and in Swifts case, with or without the Russter, you will be strong regardless!!!

Just 1 thing i picked up on..u say u have 2 players 4 every position..yet then u mention u have 4 strikers 4 the one position that leaves 3 strikers out yes? i can understand y any player wud want 2 leave if hes fighting against 3 other team mates 2 play in the 3rd division
A squad does need deep and strength to succeed but 4 of any 1 position in the 3rd division is more than enough 1 wud think u were in the premership

Its not 4 strikers fighting for 1 place...its 4 strikers fighting for 2 striking positions; therefore 2 players for each position...unless they only play 1 up front.
Unless i can't count, my maths is pretty awful ;D

Um I think your right there Norton and who says we play 2 upfront lol
I dont know speedy what formation your manager plays but sometimes we even play 2 or 3 forwards...gasp I know so if I only had 1 striker I would have to play midfielders or def upfront. So for say 2 places I have 4 players...how many weeks does any team have its full quota of players available...
Get your story right before you post shyte

I think he is questioning if a striker is actually a striker right or left of the front man in your favoured 4-3-3 stanley boy, which is a valid point. Surely the striker is the middle man. How many of the stikers are middle men?
