After Cullybackey beating Cloughmills yesterday and if ST Comgalls take some sort of points off Blackstone tomorrow night that leaves Connor just needing 1 point from there final 3 games to get automatic promotion although thats only if Wakehurst have def been deducted 12 points.
Can anyone confirm that they've been deducted the 12 points?

Got an email there from Monte who says that pending an appeal by Wakehurst the league has given them back their 12 points until the out come is resolved. If the IFA dont meet in the next 8 days then the issues will NOT be resolved this season..

Very messy! All we can do now is win our last 3 games and wait and see what happens!

very messy by all accounts. Apparently they are claiming they weren't dealt with correctly and that the witness wasn't reliable, or something like that. The witness was Davy King (League Chairman), so personally I don't see how they think they have got a case. All it will do is cost them £100 for the appeal to the IFA.

How can the league chairman not be a reliable witness lol. They would be better keeping their money and concentrating on next year.

Am I right in believing both Davy and Monte are on the IFA committee as well?! I can't see how they think they are going to be successful with an appeal as it was the league chairman who was the witness and if he's not counted as reliable then i dunno what/who is! Surely if the situation is explained to the IFA then they will hear the appeal some time this week and then we can all know who's going up etc?!

If all the above is true then it looks like they've basically gambled £100 on the fact it wont be heard within the 8 days and that they will then be promoted to Div2.
If that was the case, would they start on negative points next season?
Has anything like this happened before?

Again...messy! I don't see what Wakehurst's cause for appeal is? Is it the severity of punishment they are appealing or the actual appeal against them?! I don't see what they will achieve from appealing. Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of the Wakehurst players well and the time they beat us 5-0 they totally played us of the park, and I'm sure they have done this to many teams this season but I don't see the point of their appeal!

Well 6-2 win against cullybackey is enough to see us promoted IF Wakehurst dont win their appeal. Lets hope for everyone's sake that this is cleared up soon!

Find it interesting that a few posts mention Davy King (League Chairman) being the witness and by the sounds of it a very reliable one at that, maybe he doesnt tell lies because hes affiliated to the league?

Fair enough. I don't know a lot about that to be honest. We just want it cleared up as soon as so we know whether to celebrate promotion and plan for next year or to worry about the playoffs, I'm sure your the same! Who actually put in the protest against you's?
|
|
|
Post by brfc on May 18, 2009 20:39:02 GMT
Woodside put the protest in, Pot Kettle & Black comes to mind.
As it goes Stewartie we want this sorted as soon as so we can starting planning for hopefully our first season in the second, either through automatic or play-off promotion.
This situation doesnt help anyone in our division as the league should have been coming to a close over the next week or so, but unless this is resolved soon it could turn into a joke.

It has been confirmed that the meeting to decide your (and our) fate will take place next week.

If it goes against us and youse are auto promted, fair play to Connor, great form at present and totally deserve that position, if your early season form matched your current run i dont think you would have relied on this situation to get Connor automatically promoted
How do you know meeting will take place next week by the way?

Geoff rang me there, he was on the phone to Monty apparently and Monty says its happening next week. We've really hit form at the right time and its a pity we lost at least 6 or 7 points after being in a strong winning position (e.g. 2 nil up 3 times) and couple of last minute goals conceeded against Cloughmills in the two games. But I suppose thats football!
If you's do end up in the playoffs then you's will have to be considered favourites I'd say. No disrespect to the other teams in there.

Well now is your chance to clear it up then... Did Bambi play that night against Woodside or not?! There's no doubting you's deserve to go up alongside St Comgalls as you's are the 2 best teams in the league, and you's destroyed us at Wakehurst and also beat us at home. Personally i think you's are better than they are and do think you's will beat them on wednesday as well! But if it is proven that you have cheated then you's also deserve to be punished!
