alright mate, it does seem every year that use r there or there about, the league is alot tighter this yr with us cloughmills n woodside bein up there with use boys n the sat mornins original yoyo team st congolls! From wat I can gather there's only one automatic promotion place this year so it's gonna be a real battle for us all although I doubt woodside or the thistle can maintain they're early form

Westend have always been good enough to go up, on their day. Too inconsistant. Will this season be any different? I dont think it will.

Can you confirm Bchoops that 2 will go up automatically? Three up three down is surely going to be the case, i hope!

Westend have the same problem as us (Blackstone)... no bottle.
Either that, or we're tactically inept, or not a big enough squad... I still can't work out exactly where we are going wrong.

It has always been the case that when a team drops out of the second division, then only two teams are relegated. Was looking at ni football and it appears to be right. Three down from the 1st and three up from the 2nd. (2 automatic and 1 playoffs) Had Galgorm not folded, then the 2nd would have been the same three down, three up. This is my understanding however, i may be wrong.

We have discussed this a few times at Shore and i think Westend always fall to pieces when the mid-week matches take place - for some reason they cant seem to get a team at the end of the season.

True Donko, it wasn't bottle that f**ked us last season, it was injury's/small squad simple as.

We'll get it right this year kip... 5th time lucky, eh? You still in the land of make-believe Cowboy?? Oh dear. The answer to the original question is yes, if we can keep our strongest starting 11 as our squad is very small.

I asked the question tonight at the league meeting about how many teams get promoted and I was told by the council of the BSML that 3 teams will go up from div 3 this year and 2 down from the 2nd. The teams in the 3rd division will also get a vote on the other team who will go up which will make 4 thus returning the 2nd to its original number.

That is excellent news about 2 automatic spots (and 1 play-off) Stan. I don't undrstand your point about teams from 3rd voting a 4th team up though

Married and all plus he's lost about 2 stone after the honeymoon so he's fit and lightening quick now ;D ;D We may have believed that he's lost 2 stone but never that he's lightening quick... which obviously you'd need to be to get by our speedy centre backs. Anyway, to answer your original question, No! Quite simply you will never go up as you have the same problem as us and 3 games a week at the end of the season tend to stretch a small squad beyond its elastic limit! Just enjoy the 3rd, your not good enough for 2nd division football anyway squigs!

Nice draw in the 3rd division cup as well! Ha... Its not my feelings they care about, its just that no-one else is tall enough to put up the nets, so they have to pick me! Guess you don't have that one to rely on, so your place is always at risk... Cup should be good fun!

Regarding the 4 going up - did it not happen a few seasons ago where FC Antrim, St Comgalls, TFC and North End all went up as 2nd division team folded?

A vote to promote a team??? Surely thats a bit random. Could a team that finishes 8th-13th still get promoted??

Post by brfc on Jan 9, 2009 20:28:31 GMT
If that's true about voting for a team to go up surely it'll make a mockery of promotion from this league. This league is likely going to be the tightest to gain promotion from for quite a few years because any team of about 6 could still win it, but if Wakehurst don't make it we'll bung all teams a few quid for the vote - failing that were voting for Demense

Tightest is one way to describe the 3rd this year.....I tend to believe it is by far the worst standard 3rd division in the 5 years Blackstone have been going. Not one really good team in the Division this year....usually there is at least one good side.

lmfao quality brfc. I was just thinking this today that it is def the tightest league in a long time as all teams will drop points at some stage. I firmly believe that if we are there or there abouts come the midweek games then the teams with big squads will do ok. If we dont make the playoffs then the least we want is a good cup run.
