Abbeyview 1 - 2 Randalstown Athletic
Athletic took the lead with in 5 minutes when the Abbeyview centre half dissappeared allowing thier midfielder to run from deep and latch on to a cross from the right. Abbeyview missed from the penalty spot after about 30 mins when Jim Gallagher put it wide. Athletic had only 1 other good chance of the half when their forward was 1 on 1 with the keeper only for the keeper to make a good save.
Second half was nearly all Abbeyview with the forwards unable to hit the back of the net on many many occasions. Althetic went 2-0 up with about 10 minutes to go when a cross was not cleared only for the ball to then be scrambled into the net. Abbeyview pulled 1 back with 5 minutes to go when Gary Brown broke through, beat the keeper and slotted into the empty net.
Credit to Athletic who defended superbly, especially the aging centre half who came on early in the first half. I think it would be fair to say however that Abbeyview had the majority of posession but made a couple of crucial mistakes at the back and missed to many clear cut chances to finish the game off.

good game lads, we defended for our lives rode our luck and sneaked a win, a draw would probably have been a fair result but we will take the points gladly. all the best for the rest of the season. ps that wee lad brown is goin to be some player

Of course he's signed for us, or we would not be playing him. Definitely a great prospect for better things in the future as he sticks out at the minute.

Yep gazza is a good player and the best bit of talent around at the moment and with him only being only 15 he could have many years ahead of him.

aye think abbeyview were unlucky to get a draw from this. the view were terrible in the first half but definately got their act together in the 2nd. young brown made an impact with a late goal and also a disputable disallowed second which may i add was a real cracker!!!

I actually forgot about that one. The ball hit him high on the chest but not on the arm. Gazza finished it well only for Sandy to disallow it for hand ball. He didn't have a clear view of the incident so should not have blew up.
