I'm sure you have all heard the devastating news by now about the sad passing of our esteemed coach and great friend Shea, and it is with a very heavy heart but also with very fond memories that I write this about him. You all knew Shea as a great football man and an excellent coach, or even as a mouth on the sideline ;D , but to us that were so close to him he was much more than that. He was like a father figure to each and every single one of us at All Saints, the compassion he showed us in times of need, the shoulder to cry on he provided for us when we were feeling down, the joy and craic he shared with us when we were celebrating winning trophies or even just matches, the banter he had with us on team nights out or even just a random pint or two in the bar, the slagging and ribbing we gave him, conversely the slagging and ribbing he gave us and above all else the love he had for us all, these were all attributes that made him be loved by so many, not just by his family or by his team mates, but also by almost everyone that came in contact with him. A team member posted a message on twitter yesterday 'Finished every training session with a hand shake, measure of the man'. Well this was so true, and he lived his life by this. Outside of football, every single farewell from Shea was filled with love. Never ever did I see anyone leave Shea's company or Shea leave someone's company without an "Okay, safe home, take care and God Bless" Or if it was one of his family members, he never once wished them goodbye or goodnight without a great big kiss and the words "I love you". He was such a big family man who was so full of life and love and he shared this family ethos and love with us all at the football club. There has been so many messages on social networking sites and messages sent to me personally, and every single one of these messages portrayed how highly thought of Shea was, these messages are of massive comfort to us all at the club, and also to Shea's family aswell. Shea's passing has left a massive void in so many peoples life, and it has been very hard hitting for everyone, but we all know how much Shea loved life and so I'm sure Shea's message to everyone would be stern and clear at this awful time, and that would be to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death. RIP Shea, you will be badly missed by all, but I promise you, I will do everything in my power to make sure we all do you proud.

Was absolutely stunned when Michael told me this news yesterday. I never really knew Shea only really knew of him. Anytime I seen him he always seemed to be smiling and as I said to pele yesterday he just seemed to live for football. A quick glance on Facebook shows just how highly he was thought of around local football circles but also as a family man. I think it's easy for everyone to see how much he means to the saints camp and this will really hit them hard and I really feel for all of them at this time. The second picture bfp posted is just class, sums up just how much winning the league last year meant to him sitting there in absolute agony yet still smiling.
Massive character taken too soon and he will be sadly missed by so so many

Great post BFP. Shocked and saddened at this news. I new shea from when i was chim corner reserves. I remember going to watch the 1sts in preseason game against DC which they won. I was watching them warming up and he seen me standing there. He knew i wasnt all that great but still told me to go and get changed and put me on the bench. Made my day even tho i never got on lol. Think that is a wee measure of the man. Always had great banter wjth him anytime i seen him and he never missed a chance to crack a wee joke about the glens lol.
Rip shea. Thoughts with his family, friends and asob
