Hopefully they stay in the BSML. Always a good game v Glenarm and a good bunch of lads too.
If they were made join the bottom of the junior divisions in afternoon it really would be a massive drop in standard. Or would they be going for the intermediate league?
edit- was just told by a player that they are definitely leaving for the junior divisions.

Junior 2 & 3 are piss poor. Jun 1 has become decent enough.
Hopefully they stay put though

Was just told by a player that they decided on sat they are leaving, will more than likely have to start near the bottom too.

Good wee club were Glenarm, what's the reasoning behind this jonny? The vultures will be hoovering now ;D so to clarify an extra team from the second will come up? The two play off finalists i assume?

Not too sure Pele! just told me they were leaving.
Do we not have an extra team coming up anyway to make it back up to 14 after Broadway leaving last year? Don't know how they'll work it.

Apparently what happens is if they pull out, the team who finished highest in the second will come up next season. So say Penarol finish third and don't win the play offs they would come up, if Penarol won the play offs then the fourth placed team would come up.

Surprised to see Glenarm move. good luck to them. will they have to go into 3 for a season then possibly straight up to 1 or can they go right in at 1 or 2? that afternoon league is weird with their promotions etc.

From what I was told afternoons would be better for some of their players so they are to enter the bottom division of the afternoon league. Staying in the bsml and some players leaving, they would have been looking at folding.

i can confirm we are planning on a move to the afternoon league div 3, few reasons for this, no manager, poor commitment/ attitude from players, players leaving and very hard to get guys in for morn footy. tbh with all that we would never last to xmas and would end up folding so to keep the team going we felt we had to drop down and move league for a change.
we just about stayed up this season but with no manager and players going and bad turn outs at 1 night training per week it would never last...
we hoped we could get a manager in and bring a few players in but not to be so we had a meeting and decided this was the best option for club.
was a hard decision as we worked hard to get into the 1st div and its a cracking league and well run.

You happy to be going there? Think its disappointing as anytime I saw you boys there looked to be the makings of a good side there. Housty not want to try his hand at management. At least he could guarantee himself a start

Terrible news for DIV1! Hope it works out for youse! Wee chance for you to move into management and do a Lennon. You've been watching the League for years and know the players and prob have the contacts. They say they asked everyone. Didnt ask me . Would have been my chance to get involved in the hallowed Div 1...

Sorry to see glenarm leave the league. Always a hard team to beat and a good bunch of lads. All the best in the afternoon league.
Surprised to see ballykeel and abbeyview go down but I've no doubt if they don't lose many players they will be straight back up in first and second!

cheers guys, we are sorry to be leaving but if we stayed we wouldnt last and would fold.
this way we feel we can keep the club going, though with not as good a team.
very hard to get good players in and keep them as you have tech, welly and newington, all big clubs with 2nds teams.
like i said super league and well run and 1st div is a great standard at the min. imo better than ballymena intermediate, i believe if saints, homers or carniny were in that league they would win it.
we hope to go into 3rd div, rebuild and take it from there, if we go well and get things back on track maybe look to go intermediate, who knows.

To be honest going to Larne is a bit of a pain in the arse its as far away as Belfast ffs, actually i can drive to Belfast quicker.I think to be honest a 15mile radius should be the max after all its a Ballymena Sat morn league and getting up for games 23mile away is rippin it.But Glenarm were a good bunch of lads besides that.Should Abbeyview not stay up rather than the losers of a 2nd div playoff come up(bit rare)......
